Heart 2 Heart was founded in 2015 by a devoted group of parents and Duke care providers interested in continuous quality improvement of the patient-family experience at the Pediatric Heart Center. Over the years the group has met monthly for our clinical learning topics and business meetings to plan events, fundraisers, and support mechanisms. This has included:
Connecting individually with inpatient parents to be a sounding board and friend in the isolation of hospital life.
Planning Field Days and family education sessions.
Advocating for the consideration of parents in the design of the new tower.
Coordinating the photography project to provide the Hope for Hearts gallery wall in the unit waiting room.
Providing dinners, snacks, meal passes, etc. to families currently inpatient all with a listening ear from someone who has been there.
